This 75-minute DVD filmed in Verbier, Switzerland takes you through a unique Pilates-based exercise routine - specifically tailored for skiers and snowboarders.
The Pilates for Skiing (Skilates) exercises focus on core strength, balance and co-ordination, along with ski specific muscle strength and flexibility.
With all this comes greater Kinaesthetic (body) awareness, which is the real key to performance in a high skill sport such as skiing or boarding. Skilates draws on the experience of physiotherapist/ pilates instructor, Penney Megginson and personal trainer/ ski instructor, Gemma Bell, working with some of the UK's top riders, such as Jonno Verity (snowboard) & Nick Southwell (ski)
Whilst Skilates came into being through work with pros and advanced riders, its value can be transferred to anyone interested and motivated.
A common modern fitness philosophy is to train intelligently, like a professional athlete, and the Skilates video does just that, giving better results without risking injury through outdated "no pain no gain" regimes.
